The Kiwanis Club of Pittsburg honored community volunteers Eddie Hart and Nicole Adler on Wednesday at the club's fifth annual "Make A Difference" luncheon, held at Zandonella's Italian Restaurant.

Pittsburg recreation supervisor Ken Gray said both were recognized for their diligence, hard work and ability to motivate. Hart, he noted, has inspired young people through a track and field and education event featuring fellow Olympians that he organized last year.

Adler, who now works for Pittsburg Disposal Service, worked for the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce for two years and remains involved in city events. She stepped in last year to help with the annual Seafood Festival, Gray said, "and she made it work, and she went the extra mile to make it work."
